It’s 2:00 PM and Stronger than Ever!
Incase of my anxious feeling, waiting for the biggest event in Indonesia which will be held on 11/11/11, 2PM Hands Up Asia Tour in Jakarta. Hopefully everything will be great for 2PM and HottestID :). Here it is I present a short “biography” of 2PM which is taken from several sources.
Chansung, Wooyoung, Taecyeon, Nickhun, Junsu, Junho
2PM is one of the famous boyband from South Korea. Initially a part or a sub group of One Day formations JYP Entertainment, along with 2AM which consists of four personnel. 2PM itself consists of seven people, but currently the only remaining of six members, Junsu, Nichkhun, Taecyeon, Wooyoung, Junho, and Chansung.Like most other Korean boyband grip, each of the member gets an equal share of vocals though to rapping session is usually given to Taecyeon and Nichkun which is the only non-Korean members and originated from Thailand.
They debuted on September 4, 2008 with the singles “10 Points Out Of 10 Points”. From here, through the attraction stage, they showed acrobatic dance style that makes them look more nimble and agile than most boy band. On October 17, 2008, they began the promotion of “Only You”, another single from their debut mini album “Hottest Time of the Day”.
Following the success of the EP, 16 April 2009, 2PM released their second mini album, entitled 2:00 PM Time For Change. On May 9, 2009, they won their first award Mutizen Song on M! Countdown. In the same week, they won their second Mutizen on SBS Inkigayo. They have still won the triple crown for the third Mutizek in the next week. June 11, 2PM start promotion “I Hate You” in M! 2PM with Jaebom in the middle
On September 4, 2009, articles surfaced on the internet regarding Jaebeom’s posts from 2005 on his personal Myspace account, in which he expressed his dislike for Korea while still a trainee for JYP Entertainment. Jaebeom issued an apology regarding this matter. Although outraged protesters demanded that Jaebeom should be forced out of 2PM, JYP Entertainment CEO Park Jin-young stated on September 7 that he was going to continue to remain part of the group. The following day, Jaebeom announced on his official fancafe that he would be leaving the group and returning to the United States, with plans of going back to school, and also apologized to the other 2PM members for not being a good leader and older brother to the group. Park Jin-young has confirmed that he will respect the singer’s decision, and that 2PM will continue on as a 6-member group.
After the success of two mini albums, of course, intend 2PM released their debut album. On November 10, 2009, 2PM finally released The First Album 1:59 PM. Not without reason if 2PM to give the title of their debut album with frills 1:59 AM, because it signifies the loss of Jaebeom from their original formation.
2PM and then resume their activities without Jaebeom and make the process of filming their music video for “Heartbeat”, which is the first single for the album 1:59 PM. It did not take long, Heartbeat and then occupy the # 1 position on the chart. 20 November 2009, 2PM win both awards M.net Asian Music Awards for Best Male and Artist of the Year. After two weeks of the promotion for the album 1:59 PM, they occupied the # 1 chart on KBS Music Bank and SBS Inkigayo on they get the triple crown. In the Music Festival, “Again & Again” is recognized as the “Song of the Year”. 2PM end the album promotion activities 1:59 PM with the song “Tired of Waiting”.
After these successes, 2PM and then prepare their first concert to be held in Seoul and Busan. 2PM’s first concert ended successfully, with the number of viewers reached 12,000 people (who attended not only by fans from Korea, but also from abroad). At the end of the concert, they brought the song “Thank You”, which is dedicated to the Hottest (call for 2PM fans) who have been loyal and supported them during this regardless the controversy happened to them.

Not long later, on October 11, 2010, 2PM released their fourth EP, Still 2:00 PM, with the flagship single “I’ll Be Back”, which was number one for two consecutive weeks at Music Bank. On November 10, 2010, 2:00 PM Still unexpectedly entered into the 13th spot of the Billboard’s World Album-Chart, although no special promotion for this album was made in the U.S.
Like most other successful artists of South Korea, the Japanese market had encroached to receive even greater success. 2PM released their first Japanese single, entitled “Take Off” which later became the soundtrack for the anime Ending Song Blue Exorcist. Through this single 2PM attained the No.1 position in Usen J-Pop Chart. For this Korean boy band 2PM is the first that has reached the place.
